Capital Markets Regulatory and Operational Process consultant, Paul West has over 15 years experience across business functions and multiple asset classes.  Spanning three continents, Paul has worked in London, New York, Singapore as well as Shanghai, gaining insights into how various Tier 1 European, US, and Asia institutions price, trade, risk manage and settle Rates, Credit, FX and Equity products.  Formally trained at Capco as a consultant, and battle hardened on front office regulatory programmes, he brings practical subject matter expertise on both product and process, as well as the discipline from formal Project Management and Business Analysis.

During his first decade of experience, Paul has spent time on Fixed Income Sales Desks, the world’s largest Credit Trading Desk, and supported FX and Equity business process.  Latterly, his involvement in MiFID II and Brexit regulatory programmes, as well as broader digital transformational change, has allowed him to cover all asset classes, working with and delivering for Business Heads, COOs, as well as Operations through to Compliance, Tax and Legal.  His lead BA work includes the complex areas of MiFID II Algorithmic Trading as well as Non Equities Pre-Trade Price Transparency.  During 2019, Paul’s had first hand experience setting up and running regulatory readiness workstreams on Benchmark Reform, with primary project responsibility for the IBOR Transition of a European Tier 1 Rates Derivatives business.

Paul’s expertise is front to back operational process, truly cross asset class, with the ability to analyse and condense complex regulatory requirements into market and technical friendly documentation. He is adept at leading workstreams across function, and managing the more demanding front office contributors and sponsors. Paul has an MSc in Finance from the Henley Business School.  Outside of work he has set up a trail running club,  is a published author, and brushes up on his mandarin.
